Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Verble ("we", "us") handles information when you use our Portuguese-learning app, visit this website or contact support. You can contact the team responsible for Verble at benjaminpeterwatts@gmail.com.

Learning without signing up

You do not need to enter an email address, create a password or use a social login to study. Library updates work without creating a download account. The app does not request your contacts, precise location or microphone access. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Information stored on your device

Appearance, study filters, English-translation preferences, tutorial completion and free-preview state are stored locally on your device. Sentence navigation history is held during your study session. Downloaded library updates are also stored locally. Verble does not upload your sentence-by-sentence study history or provide cloud sync of learning progress.

Your operating system or browser may back up or restore local app data according to your settings. Removing app data or browser storage clears local preferences; backup copies are managed separately through your device or backup provider.

Library updates and Supabase

Verble includes a learning library on your device. When an update check runs, the app contacts Supabase, our content-hosting provider, over HTTPS. Requests use a public application key shared by app installations, not a personal identifier or login. The server provides short-lived, read-only links to published lesson files held in private storage. Updates do not create an authentication account.

These requests involve the requested library version or file and connection information such as IP address, request time, response status and client information. Supabase may retain operational logs to deliver, protect and troubleshoot the service. Account-free downloads do not mean that no data is processed. We do not send individual sentence views, study answers or audio-button presses to Supabase as analytics events. Library file requests are for updates, not a record of which sentences you practise.

Library updates are separate from your store subscription and do not sync learning progress. Learn more about Supabase's processing in its privacy policy.

Analytics

Usage reporting is optional and off by default. In supported mobile releases, you can enable “Help improve Verble” in Settings. Google Analytics for Firebase then receives feature-use events such as introduction completion, breakdown use, practice milestones, audio failures and subscription-screen actions. Firebase also processes an app-instance identifier, device and app information, and automatic session and engagement events. These are pseudonymous usage records, not a guarantee of anonymity. We do not attach sentence text, sentence identifiers, audio recordings, your name, email or authentication tokens to these events. Advertising identifier collection, advertising consent and automatic screen reporting are disabled. We do not use session replay. Turning the switch off stops future usage reporting and clears local Firebase Analytics data; it does not automatically delete records already received by Google. For an existing-data request, contact us below. RevenueCat subscription reporting and operational requests needed to run the app are separate from this optional switch. Apple and Google may also provide store and app-performance reports under their own policies.

Subscriptions and payment

In-app payments are processed by the store through which you purchase, such as Apple's App Store or Google Play. Verble does not receive your full payment-card details.

We use RevenueCat to check access, manage and restore subscriptions, and understand subscription performance. Its SDK can contact RevenueCat when the app opens, even if you have not purchased. It uses an automatically generated app-user identifier, purchase receipts or tokens, product and transaction details, subscription status, and technical information such as device type, operating system and app activity timestamps. We do not deliberately send your name, email or study history to RevenueCat.

RevenueCat processes subscription data on our behalf. See its privacy information. Apple and Google handle their own store-account and payment data under their respective Apple and Google privacy policies.

Audio, support and this website

Sentence playback uses your device or browser's text-to-speech service. Verble supplies the selected sentence to that service; it does not record your voice. Whether a voice uses online processing depends on the service and your settings.

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request and investigate problems. Please do not send passwords or payment-card details.

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and does not embed advertising or analytics scripts. Cloudflare may process normal connection and access-log information, such as IP address, requested page, browser information and request time, to deliver and protect the site. Use, sharing and international processing

We use information to provide the service, verify purchases, answer support requests, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations. Where a legal basis is required, this includes providing the service you request, legitimate interests in supporting and securing it, legal obligations, or consent where required.

Information may be handled by our subscription, content-hosting, website-hosting and email service providers, including Supabase, RevenueCat and Cloudflare, and may be processed outside your country. We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights. We do not share your study activity with advertisers.

Retention and your choices

There is no library-download account to delete. For requests about subscription records, previously collected Analytics, support correspondence or operational logs, contact us below. Those records are handled separately by the relevant providers; uninstalling the app does not automatically erase them or cancel subscription billing.

We retain support correspondence, subscription records and operational information as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. Operational-log retention also depends on our providers' service settings.

Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information we hold about you. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, obtain a portable copy, withdraw consent, or complain to a privacy regulator. We may need limited information to verify your request and locate records associated with an anonymous app-user identifier. Some records may need to be retained for legal reasons.

Children's privacy

Verble is a general-audience learning app and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can investigate and arrange deletion where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page and its date when our practices change. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before introducing a new use of your information.
